Experienced Clinicians offering Specialist Support
Our service aims to offer high-quality mental health support. This means our clinicians predominantly work in areas they are familiar with and have several years of experience in.
In-person and Telehealth Psychology Support
Forward Thinking Psychological Services provides specialised mental health support for adults, with a focus on a defined set of clinical areas where our clinicians have developed particular experience and expertise.
We have options for in-person therapy on the Central Coast, and we provide telehealth services throughout regional NSW and beyond.
While change can take time, we work alongside you to build insight, skills, and confidence that extends beyond the therapy room. We genuinely enjoy being part of our clients’ progress and sharing in the moments where things begin to feel lighter, clearer, or more manageable.
Our Areas of Interest Include:
Health-related concerns (e.g., chronic health conditions, serious illness, or persistent pain)
Anxiety disorders (e.g., Generalised Anxiety, OCD, PTSD/Trauma-related disorders, and Adjustment Disorders)
Depression and mood disorders (including Grief)
Burnout and Stress
Work-related problems and transitions (including Workers’ Compensation)
Relationship and social challenges (e.g., navigating interpersonal difficulties, relationship breakdowns, or family/work conflict)

Service Structure:
Tailored plans begin with a free 15-minute video or phone call
Our initial 15-minute call is a chance to discuss your current situation, presenting concerns, and how we can best support you. We hope this allows you to determine whether you feel comfortable with your therapist - ensuring you're confident moving forward.
Ongoing sessions are approximately 50 minutes duration, and may include further assessment, collaborative discussion, or focused support. Our evidence-based therapeutic approaches include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), EMDR, and more.
Between sessions, you may receive resources for further learning and development, skill-building exercises, homework exercises, and other suggestions to improve mental health and well-being throughout daily life.
If you are a GP, Case Manager, Rehab Consultant, or other Allied Health professional who would like to refer a patient, please email the clinic at info@forwardthinkingpsychology.com
The Heart of Therapy Is Human Connection
At the core of effective therapy is a genuine connection. Feeling seen, heard, and understood. That’s why we believe the most important part of your therapeutic journey is finding someone you truly feel comfortable with.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
A referral is not required to access psychology sessions privately. However, if you would like to claim Medicare rebates, you will need a valid Mental Health Care Plan and GP referral. We’re happy to guide you through this process if needed - or see our Medicare page in the Services section.
-
Generally, online (telehealth) psychology is as effective as in-person therapy for many common mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, stress, trauma-related difficulties, and adjustment concerns. Our clinicians have several years of experience providing telehealth services and use secure, reliable systems to ensure sessions are engaging, confidential, and clinically effective. That being said, if they suspect that you require in-person services, they will be happy to support a referral to another clinic.

Yes. Session frequency is flexible and guided by your needs, goals, and preferences. Some people attend weekly, others fortnightly, or less frequently as things improve. We’ll work collaboratively with you to find a plan that feels manageable and supports meaningful progress.

This varies depending on the person and the concerns you’re seeking support for. Some people find that 3–4 sessions are sufficient for short-term or specific issues. On average, many clients attend 6–10 sessions, which allows time for assessment and meaningful therapeutic work. More complex or long-standing difficulties may require longer-term support.
