Experienced Clinicians offering Specialist Support

Our service aims to offer high-quality support. This means our clinicians predominantly work in areas they are familiar with, and have several years of experience in.

Targeted Mental Health Support

Forward Thinking Psychological Services provides specialised mental health support for adults, with a focus on a defined set of clinical areas where our clinicians have developed particular experience and expertise. This allows us to concentrate our work where we can offer the most effective, evidence-based care.

We hope this difference is noticeable. Our approach is thoughtful, collaborative, and compassionate - grounded in clinical experience and shaped by what we have seen genuinely support people to move forward. While change can take time, we work alongside you to build insight, skills, and confidence that extends beyond the therapy room. We genuinely enjoy being part of our clients’ progress and sharing in the moments where things begin to feel lighter, clearer, or more manageable.

Session Structure

Tailored plans begins with a free 15-minute video or phone call

Discuss your current situation, presenting concerns, and how we can best support you. This no-obligation call is also a chance for you to see whether your therapist and the online format feel like a good fit - ensuring you're comfortable and confident moving forward.

Ongoing sessions are approximately 50 minutes and may include further assessment, collaborative discussion, or focused support. Depending on your needs, your therapist may offer supportive counselling or evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), or other specialised methods.

Alongside sessions, you may receive targeted resources for further learning and development, skill-building exercises, homework exercises, and other suggestions to address the concerns in your daily life. Your therapist will be accountable for this plan and work with you to celebrate the progress, and problem-solve any barriers or issues that arise.

We currently offer services under the Better Access to Mental Health Scheme (e.g., via Mental Health Care Plans); Health Cover/Insurance; CTP; Lifetime Care; Workers’ Compensation; and Privately-funded clients. If you are unsure about your eligibility for sessions or funding coverage, please submit an enquiry and we will provide immediate feedback.

If you are a GP, Case Manager, Rehab Consultant, or other Allied Health professional who would like to refer a patient, please email the clinic at info@forwardthinkingpsychology.com, and we can arrange a phone call to discuss suitability.

More about our services

Forward Thinking Psychological Service offers personalised psychological and wellness services to support your needs and goals. Our experienced clinicians combine evidence-based care with a sincerely relational approach - offering empathy, warmth, and genuine investment in your wellbeing.

We also offer clinical supervision - this can be in the capacity of a secondary supervisor if you are still navigating your training pathway, or for specific supervision needs please enquire.

We operate through an exclusively remote model, making therapy more accessible and flexible - sessions can be scheduled around your life and commitments.

As part of our mission to increase awareness and understanding of mental health topics, we are in the process of creating and sharing information sheets and blog posts. We hope that these resources will be of interest to you, and may also be of use if shared with friends and family.

Our principal psychologist has several years of experience and currently offers affordable mental health support throughout the Central Coast and NSW.

The Heart of Therapy Is Human Connection

At the core of effective therapy is a genuine connection. Feeling seen, heard, and understood. That’s why we believe the most important part of your therapeutic journey is finding someone you truly feel comfortable with.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • A referral is not required to access psychology sessions privately. However, if you would like to claim Medicare rebates, you will need a valid Mental Health Care Plan and GP referral. We’re happy to guide you through this process if needed - or see our Medicare page in the Services section.

  • Generally, online (telehealth) psychology is as effective as in-person therapy for many common mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, stress, trauma-related difficulties, and adjustment concerns. Our clinicians have several years of experience providing telehealth services and use secure, reliable systems to ensure sessions are engaging, confidential, and clinically effective. That being said, if they suspect that you require in-person services, they will be happy to support a referral to another clinic.

  • Yes. Session frequency is flexible and guided by your needs, goals, and preferences. Some people attend weekly, others fortnightly, or less frequently as things improve. We’ll work collaboratively with you to find a plan that feels manageable and supports meaningful progress.

  • This varies depending on the person and the concerns you’re seeking support for. Some people find that 3–4 sessions are sufficient for short-term or specific issues. On average, many clients attend 6–10 sessions, which allows time for assessment and meaningful therapeutic work. More complex or long-standing difficulties may require longer-term support.
