Tom Ford - Senior Clinical Psychologist & Founder
I completed my studies and training at the University of Otago in 2019 and have been practicing on the Central Coast of NSW, Australia, across a range of private settings ever since. I’ve loved working within face-to-face clinics and the connection that comes with team-based settings. Following the pandemic and spending a majority of my day providing online services, it became apparent that this was an effective, low-cost model that could provide real value to my clients. As such, I’ve now chosen to work remotely to allow for more flexibility in my own life, while still offering consistent, low-cost, high-quality care to my clients. This setup enables me to remain fully engaged in my practice, while also pursuing personal growth in other ways that enhance my work as a psychologist.
My therapeutic style is grounded in authenticity, honesty, and empathy. I'm genuinely curious about and invested in the lives of my clients, and committed to building meaningful relationships that create the foundation for real and lasting change. I'm committed to being direct and genuine in my approach, and I don’t believe in offering surface-level support or idealistic solutions.
While I hold integrity and professionalism as core values, I’m naturally light-hearted and approachable - and I won’t shy away from the occasional joke when it’s fitting. My work is primarily informed by Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), though I’m always learning and expanding my therapeutic toolkit with a range of evidence-based approaches.
Over the years, I’ve developed a broad foundation by working with individuals from diverse backgrounds. My main areas of interest and expertise include:
Anxiety disorders (e.g., Generalised Anxiety, OCD, PTSD/Trauma, Adjustment Disorders)
Relationship and social challenges (e.g., navigating interpersonal difficulties, relationship breakdowns, or family/work conflict)
Health-related concerns (e.g., chronic health conditions, serious illness, or persistent pain)
Depression and mood disorders
ADHD
I'm passionate about getting to know each client as a unique individual and tailoring therapy to their specific needs. I aim to go beyond generic advice and offer practical, evidence-based support that’s meaningful and relevant to your life - something friends or family may not always be able to provide.
